Tell me about your leadership in production?

In college where I do a level 3 in creative media I just did a project where I had to lead a big shoot, there was a lot of difficulty trying to get the xbox working and connecting with a compatible format working and everyone working but I managed to get everything together through re organising the schedule so the people who had to leave early and moving around all of the xbox and screens and leads so everything was okay and could work in the end I made a successful show and I was really proud of the outcome.

Dream job

Editor

A video editor is someone that gets sent or given footage and they use some editing software to cut together footage in the way they are supposed too be.

How to become an editor

There are many ways to become an editor like using skill and a portfolio and trying to be a freelancer or joining a scheme or a course too gain skills, knowledge and connections.

Schemes that look good are these ones:

BBC-

This has difference schemes people can apply for with no knowledge skill or experience.
I really like this scheme and i'm going to apply for it, i would have to go to London and this would be hard as i would have to get a bus and train daily but also it says that i would not be guaranteed London.

Channel 4-

This is a really good looking scheme but its closed now, it is meant to help people from backgrounds that are less showed and help them in to a media job.
I don't think this one is for me but it seems really good and helpful for others.

I would love to become an editor or something similar in an organisation or freelance and im going to work up to this through many different ways.

If i don't go through a scheme i am going to look at becoming a freelancer through singing up to different sites and contacting people. i think a group of people might be willing to pay me to edit if i can prove my services. Early YouTubers would be good to message with some kind of deal. i am thinking about going on Instagram and messaging people who have an up and coming video and saying ill edit some videos for free then have a set price after that for awhile.

To whom may concern

Hello My name is Alice Ker and I am currently studying a level 3 in creative media tv&film in college, I have almost completed this course and am looking at a future in graphic design. I have seen you have a job opening for your London office as a graphic designer.

Although I am young I have a lot of experience with photoshop and similar applications, i Work hard and learn fast.
During my 4 years at college I have become very good at being given a brief and being able to complete the project in time to a very high standard and would love to continue doing this at your office.

I workout a small new look right now although I haven't been for long and I would love to movie to something more creative where my experiences can be used, I have knowledge on the types of POS graphics and window plans I would help create.

My skills include photography, having and keen eye and anymore. I would be honoured to meet you in person and talk more about this position. I have attached below my CV so you can read more about me. Thank you for spending time to read this letter, I hope your having a great day.

Yours faithfully Alice Ker

My anxieties

I worry about what my future will be like and I worry about what will happen after college, I worry about getting a job that pays enough for me to be able to rent a flat, I worry about having to go live back with my abusive mother. I worry about bringing down my boyfriend and running his life, I have new worries and stresses that build up daily and I feel like when college is over it'll be such a relief, I want to compete this course to a high level but I regret doing this course, I'm behind everyone at my age and I just want a good paying job so I can properly start my life.

How I will improve my well being

I will improve my well being by trying to be more positive, making a todo list and completing it so I can see all the tasks I need to do and will feel a false sense of accomplishment when I complete them. Go for walks and adventure more with my bf as thats my favourite thing to do. Bake and play games to relive stress and complete a college to do list when I will write down everything I need todo and finish it all.

Communications

Communication:
  • Social Media/ Messaging
  • Telephone

At my work the rule for phones is that only the manager or supervisor is allowed their phone on shop floor. We used to be allowed them in our pockets or away but new look has changed their policy so that only important people have their phones. They are allowed their phones in case of any emergency and because all day there is a chat going within all of the stores in the area where we have to say when we sell specific things or get a card. i think this is really clever as you can see what stores are doing good and what is expected off us in the day.

Social media
Pros:
- Morale
- Trust
- Breaks (between work, time to relax and set their mind to something new)
- Love (makes people feel happier)
- Branding
- Causes buzz (talking)
- Impresses clients (social media as it shows that you are media savvy)
- Social media improves internal communication in the company
- Social media means that remote workers are able to have their input
- Query & reply
- Improves teamwork
Linkedin
- With social media you are always up to speed with posts

Cons:
- Bullying
- Trolling (anonymous)
- Addictive
- Negative affects
- Opinions
- It is there forever (social footprint)
- Context (can be mistakes, it will forever be out there)
- Virus'
- "Revenge Porn"
- Time wasting if a worker is just on their phone

If the issue is being on your phone whilst as work then is there a possible way to stop it from happening? A ban on phones but having a local social media for the business, like CWA Buzz, but only for the coworkers and not for the public.

WeTransfer and email are good ways of sharing files with people, (https://wetransfer.com).

Phone Skills

Always think of the context

1)positive tone
--(smile) you can hear a smile
2) Use clear enunciation
--( speak clearly) don't use jargon or slang
3) be sincere
--(company name and don't 'sing it', my name then offer assistance. at the end of the call say something polite 'have a nice day')
4) Use their name
--Find out their name in a polite and not creepy way
5) leave the customer satisfied
-- (did you find everything you needed today)
